Arts & Lent
One of God's favourite things is paradoxes...like the only way to life is death. During Lent, as a community, let's practice death to our shallow way of living, our ravenous appetite to consume, our greed for more and lust for what isn't ours. As we walk through this death, we will enter the new life that Easter promises. The resurrection is what changes everything. One of the ways to walk through Lent is to set some time aside for creating and to offer it up as worship to God. Creativity takes time and space that our regular lives often don't allow for. Trees are a symbol of that new life that God gives us and will be the theme for our Easter celebration of new life. So take a walk. Take some time. Read the Scriptures. Be creative.
Throughout Lent set some time aside for your own creative pursuits. Whether it be painting, sketching, poetry, sculpting or macramé, create something around the theme of trees to share with the ForestView community. We will have a visual celebration with all our creations on Easter Sunday. These will be our worship to God and our gifts to each other.

Sandra is an art teacher/potter/homeschool mom-of-four in Hamilton, Ontario. She has days when life runs too quickly for her to keep up, but her best moments are the ones where peace enters unawares. Like the moments where there are 12 children racing around the house with the excitement of re-creating an artwork in real life, costumes and props included. And then, a sudden moment of peace in the midst of madness in realizing that the children are loving art, are living it, are noticing tiny details, and are intent on working together to create a masterpiece. How can we find those moments of peace? Can we just pause, even if everything is madly rushing around, to focus on the beauty of life, and the inspiration that can be found in recreating beauty? It is those moments of peace in the midst of madness that give art meaning
