Nextdoor Renovation Update

In early May we received our building permit. The month of May was spent organizing volunteers and securing contractors.  To date the plumbing is roughed in and fixtures will be installed upon completion of some drywalling.  Likewise, electrical is underway. The major work is the installation of the kitchen exhaust. The equipment for this is on order and will be installed upon its arrival. We still hope towards a July completion!

Renovation Timeline:

January 11th – Councillor Rick Craven Visits

We had a visit today with our City Councillor Rick Craven showing off our new space as the renovations begin. We are building a full kitchen and class room space for many nutritional / educational learning opportunities, more space to host local worship gatherings, community meals and events. So appreciate Councillor Craven’s support and enthusiasm for the work we are doing in Warwick Surrey and east Aldershot!

January 28th – Work Day

Thanks to all those that showed up for our work day, painting our new space and cleaning, it’s beginning to come together and it’s always more fun when many hands give back to make it happen!

April 9th – Imagine Night

What is the story of Next Door? That is what was painted tonight at our second Imagine led by Chris Wignall. What a beautiful inspiring story with God’s finger prints evidently all over it! And as we begin to look forward to where we are going, we began to dream big dreams for Next Door. And so the story continues and we are excited to see where God is leading.

April 20th – Barn Door

We are just thrilled about our new sliding barn loft doors we just picked out and brought over to the new expanded space which will be our future Nextdoor Community Kitchen in the heart of Aldershot! A place for everyone to come together. These doors will separate the two spaces and can be open or closed depending on what’s happening in each room.

We are truly grateful to Jeff at loftdoors.com for his generosity of these doors and seeing all the good of building stronger community together!

May 7th – Mayor Rick Goldring Visit

Our visit by Mayor Rick Goldring to Nextdoor Social Space and Rolling Horse Community Cycle was a great turn out of our neighbourhood friends and thanks to the Partnering Aldershot Committee for participating in our expansion celebration. Loved sharing with Mayor Goldring how we are all working together towards stronger healthy families and community in Aldershot! And showing off our new “blender bike” and we enjoyed a smoothie!

June 8th – Wall Came Down

And the WALL came tumbling down!! We are another step closer to are Nextdoor community kitchen being established as the double door way was made today between our two spaces so we can flow in between a huge thanks to Sean and Dan and some big power tools!

June 14th – Barn Door Installed

The barn door is up and the frame work complete! We just love it! Sean Wellwood you are a dedicated hard worker. Thanks for your heart and skills to do this work for us at Nextdoor Space!
