Neighbours Without Walls

I love community. Growing up in church you hear that word a lot however this idea of community seems to be stretching further beyond that now. People are forming community everywhere. Think about things like your fitness, maybe you are part of a running group or even the crazy crossfit community. You can form community around the way you eat #ketogenic #whole30 #vegan #kellystribe. Or what about your favourite sports team (go Bengals!). Think about

Community Without Walls

I have always considered myself an introvert, and to some extent, I still do. I always preferred staying in rather than going out. I would get excited when plans were canceled last minute and it meant I could stay in my PJs all day. I didn't mind spending an entire week barely leaving the house or interacting with anyone other than my husband. I thought I was the kind of person who just "didn't need

Nextdoor Renovation Update

In early May we received our building permit. The month of May was spent organizing volunteers and securing contractors.  To date the plumbing is roughed in and fixtures will be installed upon completion of some drywalling.  Likewise, electrical is underway. We

But while the external features were shaping our choice, God could see the people and the brokenness, pain or joy found in each home in our neighbourhood. He could see our desire to

On Seeking Community

“A person who is lonely should dig into a community, give himself to a community, humble himself before his friends, initiate community, teach people to care for each other and love each other.” – Donald Miller, Blue Like Jazz Community is a word that gets tossed around a lot in church circles today, it seems to me. We are called to “live in community,” and “do life together.” Forestview has co-opted the word community to

Pastoral Prayer – September 16th, 2013

Our Gracious God, Thank you for creating the church.  Thank you that we don’t have to do this all on our own.  Thank you that we get to participate in all of this - the songs, the preaching, the bread and wine, the simply coming together week after week. We are not alone.  Though the Evil One may want us to believe that we are all alone in this world, it is a lie.  You
