Ecuador Con Amour – The Beginning

Nicole Roblin and Shantelle Matos, a dynamic and loveable pair of girls from FV, will soon be embarking on a mission to Ecuador. You can follow some of their adventures here on the FV Blog, or check out http://ecuadorconamor.wordpress.com/ and http://shantellematos.tumblr.com/ for full updates. Let’s pray for them as they go! This journey began in March 2012. I traveled with my youth group to Trujillo, Peru for a ten day mission’s trip. To say the

Last Time

Over the past week Nicole and I have had the first of our many “lasts.” We had our last house visits with Gladys and Carlotta, our last time watching Jonatan’s soccer time lose a game (sorry bud), last time helping at social project, last time teaching the pastors, last time going to church. and many more little lasts that have slowly made us sadder and sadder as we realize our time here is actually coming

Day to Day Life in Ecuador

These past few days have been exhausting! I can’t remember the last time I have done so much in 5 days. From the day we arrived to today, we have had orientation, gone up a cable car on the Pinchincha mountain (14,000 feet above sea level). The view was indescribable. You could see all of Quito and more. We have also grocery shopped, learned to take the bus, drove all over Quito it feels like,

Day One – Quito

We’re finally here! After a tiring day of travel we arrived at the extreme response headquarters. Shantelle and I have spent the day meeting other ER staff, seeing an old friend Mike Bishop (whom we had meet in Peru) and being debriefed on all things Quito. Tomorrow we will be taking a cable car up one of the many mountains surrounding Quito to get a better look at the city. Then we will be meeting
